Santa Fe by way of Nashville singer/songwriter Coco O’Connor follows-up her 2016 debut album Turquoise with This Ol’ War. Produced by Parker Cason (Blank Range, Buzz Cason), This Ol’ War is another set of polished country songs with elements of blues and rock. The album seeks to meld O’Connor’s two homes – New Mexico and Tennessee – into style all her own. Highlights on the seven-track collection include: the tender “Daddy’s Arms”; the road song “Abilene”; “South of Santa Fe” which chronicles her move to New Mexico; the blue-collar working person’s song “Crenshaw County”; and the Tom Petty-tinged rocker “Free State on Winston.” This Ol’ War is another excellent album from Coco O’Connor. – Written by JFelton
