Minneapolis sextet Dark Dark Dark recently released their sophomore album, Wild Go, a fascinating brand of chamber-pop influenced by the eclectic sounds of Americana, Eastern European folk, and New Orleans/southern gothic jazz. With Nona Marie Invie and Marshall LaCount (vocals, multi-instrumentalists) at the songwriting helm, the tracks on Wild Go were recorded straight to analog tape with Twin Cities producer Tom Herbers (Low, The Jayhawks, Soul Asylum, Chris Mars) in the studio, a church and a theater for a richly ambient effect. On this album which thematically explores relationships, notable singles include the Slavic infused opener “In Your Dreams”, the orchestral “Heavy Heart”, the poignant “Something For Myself”, and the simple and stunning “Robert.” Dark Dark Dark is a highly regarded local group that may well breakthrough to a deservedly larger audience with the sublime Wild Go. – Written by JFelton
