Chicago country singer/songwriter David Quinn follows-up his excellent 2019 debut, Wanderin’ Fool, with Letting Go – another superb collection of folk-tinged rock and country that picks right up where its predecessor left off. Letting Go was inspired by long winding road trips through the Midwestern countryside in his truck. This time around Quinn moves away from the traditional country to a 60’s and 70’s era country and honky-tonk sound. For this 11-song collection, Quinn recruited support from a number special guest musicians: Willie Nelson, Jim Lauderdale, Maren Morris, Margo Price, Sturgill Simpson, and Kacey Musgraves. Album highlights include: the ramblin’ country rocker “Ride On”; the up-tempo number “Thunderbird Wine”; the vivid country tune “horse”; the mellow honky tonker “Let Me Die with My Boots On”; the more traditional sounding “I Hope I Don’t”; the Outlaw tinged “100 Miles”; and the beautifully wistful closing track “Maybe I’ll Move Out to California.” David Quinn’s Letting Go is a great album about cutting loose and leaving your troubles behind, something that is truly needed in these strange times. – Written by JFelton
