Ann Arbor, MI based fuzz folk band Drunken Barn Dance is the collective talent of members from local indie bands Saturday Looks Good to Me, Great Lakes Myth Society and Canada – a.k.a. Scott Sellwood (vocals, guitar) and Scott DeRoche (guitar), Greg McIntosh (guitar), Ryan Howard (drums) and Jim Roll (bass). Under the leadership of Sellwood, the laid back, alcohol imbibing band accomplished the impressive feat of recording 17 songs in 8 hours, limiting vocals to no more than 2 takes. The result is Grey Buried – ten tracks of sparse but catchy distortion laden songs about summer, youth and scandal with an authentic sound that is part Neil Young folk and The Mountain Goats with the energy of The Hold Steady. Drunken Barn Dance is a band that likes to have fun, as their name – taken from an episode of South Park – implies, and Grey Buried is a good, energetic, rough-hewn combination that should appeal to fans of indie Americana of A.A. Bondy to the alt. country of Drive-By Truckers. – Written by JFelton
