Dry the River, a London based five-piece, follows-up their 2011 EP 2011’s Weights and Measures with their debut full-length Shallow Bed. With backgrounds in emo and hardcore, the young lads bonded over folk music while attending university and together compiled twelve songs dedicated to the sounds and history of American folk rock, including stories about the Bible belt, medicine men, and railroads. Recorded in Connecticut with analogue equipment under the watch of producer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol), the album features catchy hooks, warm guitars and smartly arranged layers of multi-instrumentation. Standouts by these BBC Sound of 2012 artists (who joined the ranks of Michael Kiwanuka, Frank Ocean, Niki & The Dove, and Skillrex) include “New Ceremony” and “No Rest.” – Written by JFelton
