Little Rock, Arkansas native and Nashville based singer/songwriter Elise Davis follows-up her widely acclaimed 2016 release, The Token, with Cactus – another rich set of introspective songs that are honest and vivid. For Cactus, Davis teamed up with multi-instrumentalist and producer Jordan Lehning (Andrew Combs, Caitlin Rose, Willie Nelson) at his home studio for six months crafting songs that draw inspiration primarily from Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers” and Aimee Mann’s “Mental Illness” albums while broaden her sonic palette. Highlights include: the lovelorn opening track “Hold Me Like a Gun”; the song about young love “Married Young”; the introspective “33”; the soul baring song about depression, “Moody Marilyn”; and the cinematic closer “Don’t Bring Me Flowers.” Elise Davis bares it all on Cactus – an authentic and intimate album where she expresses her shortcomings, idiosyncrasies, insecurities and strengths. – Written by JFelton
