The indie Americana group Glorietta is the product of Delta Spirit’s Matthew Logan Vasquez and Austin’s Adrian Quesada (Brownout) along with singer-songwriter David Ramirez, who came together to record a “stream-of-consciousness” record. Once the project was underway additional musicians were invited to collaborate, such as singer/songwriter Noah Gundersen, Wild Child’s Kelsey Wilson, singer/songwriter Jason Robert Blum, and Nathanial Rateliff plus two from his band. This somewhat impromptu group traveled to Glorietta, New Mexico for nine days of on-the-fly writing and recordings. The result is Glorietta’s playful lo-fi self-titled debut record and excellent mix songs. Standout tracks include: the emotive rocker “Golden Lonesome”; the garage funk groove of “I Know”; the folksy “Friends”; the warped garage rock tune “Mindy”; the glam funk-infused “Heatstroke”; the catchy acoustic number “Easy Come Easy Go”; the downbeat ballad “Lincoln Creek”; and the country-infused rocker “The Hard Way.” Glorietta is an eclectic collection of songs and a fun listen through-and-through. – Written by JFelton
