Austin-based duo Jamestown Revival (long-time friends Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance) follow-up 2016’s acclaimed The Education of A Wandering Man with their third album, San Isabel. Their latest was named after the location of the remote cabin studio where the album was recorded and the San Isabel National Forest in Buena Vista, Colorado that it overlooks. San Isabel showcases Clay’s baritone and Chance’s tenor, coming together again on another album of breathtaking harmonies, clear, crisp clean instrumentation, and top-notch songwriting. San Isabel’s highlights include: the banjo-driven opener “Crazy World (Judgement Day)”; the melodic single “This Too Shall Pass”; an excellent cover of The Mamas and The Papas’ “California Dreaming”; the ethereal folk song “Who Hung the Moon”; the rambling “Mayday Man”; the somber “Killing You, Killing Me;” and the heartfelt “Harder Way.” Jamestown Revival excels at melding traditional folk sounds and contemporary Americana with elements of early pop, and on San Isabel they have crafted their most satisfying collection of songs to date. – Written by JFelton
