Jamestown Revival – Utah

  • April 1, 2014

Jamestown Revival is composed of L.A. based duo of childhood friends and Texan natives, Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance. Their debut album, Utah, was recorded in a log cabin in that state’s Wasatch Mountains and features a polished mix of eleven country-folk songs with breezy Laurel Canyon melodies. While Utah showcases Clay and Chances’ songwriting abilities, it is their honeyed vocals and tight harmonies that steal the show. A few highlights include: churning “California (Cast Iron Soul)”; the soft-stepping Ryan Adams-esque “Medicine”; the rowdy, juke joint-ready “Revival”; Dixie-fried country “Wandering Man”; and the expansive, classic rock-infused closer, “Home.” While Jamestown Revival may not be pushing the limits of the genre, they have created a solid and extremely enjoyable listen that is informed by those who came before them. Give them a listen – you won’t be disappointed! – Written by JFelton
