JD McPherson is out with his highly anticipated LP, Undivided Heart & Soul. The Independent Music Award winner’s third release finds him in new places, musically and literally, on his new label, New West. Following 2015’s Let the Good Times Roll, McPherson immersed himself in different genres and influences, notably spending time in California with Josh Homme (Queens of The Stone Age). Upon his return to Nashville with a new sense of purpose, he ventured without his band, writing and recording in the historic RCA Studio B with others such as Aaron Lee Tasjan, Parker Millsap, and his wife Mandy. What results is a powerful collection filled with love and loss interpreted through the sounds of rock and roll, garage rock, and the blues. Standout tracks include: opener “Desperate Love”; Crying’s Just a Thing That You Do”; “Lucky Penny”; and “Let’s Get Out of Here While We’re Young.” Undivided Heart & Soul is a must-have album for 2017, and definitively one of the best releases of the year. – Written by JFelton
