Jeremy Benson, a longtime member of one of my favorite indie folk rock bands, the Roadside Graves, recently released his second solo full-length, Darksongs 2. Eight years after the debut of Darksongs, New York City based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Benson has produced an excellent set of ten Americana / indie-folk tracks that showcase fine craftsmanship and composition. With a deep baritone reminiscent of Johnny Cash, Benson wades through the darkness of damaged relationships and pain yet never loses his sense of self and what remains true. Utilizing guitar, electric guitar, piano and percussion and engaging complementary vocalists like Ivana Carrescia and other members of the Roadside Graves, with Darksongs 2 Benson proves that he is a serious talent on the indie scene. Standout tracks include “Too Much Love and Not Enough Danger”, “No One to Save”, and “Bend My Head Down to the Ground.” – Written by JFelton
