California singer/songwriter Jesse Daniel follows-up his self-titled debut record with his sophomore effort Rollin’ On – another set of traditional Bakersfield style country. Rollin’ On finds Daniel celebrating his commitment to his newfound sobriety, life, and his love for California’s country history. The inspiration for Rollin’ On came from the records produced by veteran country music producer Tommy Detamore (Jim Lauderdale, Miss Leslie and Her Juke-Jointers) who also worked on this effort. Standout tracks include: the catchy “If You Ain’t Happy Now (You Never Will Be)”; the heartbreaker “St. Claire’s Retreat”; the rocking honky-tonk title “Rolin’ On”; the Norteño/Ranchero vibed tall-tale “Champion,” the country love song featuring Daniel’s partner Jodi Lyford “Only Money, Honey”; the quaint instrumental track “Chickadee”; the witty country love song “Bringin’ Home the Roses”; the clever yet reflective song about a lost friend “Sam”; and the musician’s road life inspired “Old at Heart.” With the release of Rollin’ On, it is easy to see why Daniel was the winner of the 2019 Ameripolitan Award for best Honky Tonk Male performer. Rollin’ On is a polished and well-written country album that was superbly produced and performed by a set of top-notch musicians. – Written by JFelton
