Los Angeles singer/songwriter Joe Bourdet debuts his first full-length Meadow Rock – an album that was influenced by 60’s/70’s Laurel Canyon sound giving the album an anachronistic vintage vibe. The collection of songs on Meadow Rock are poignant, tell good stories, polished, and feature melodies that have a more grassroots and organic sound that take elements of the Americana, soul, cosmic country and classic rock. Recorded with a group of friends, it features Joe (acoustic/high-strung, slide guitars/vocal) with George Sluppick (drums), Brian Filosa (bass), Vic Martin (Fender Rhodes piano), and guests Tim Walker (pedal steel guitar), and Jason Soda (acoustic guitar solo) during the quarantine. Notable tracks include: the downtempo “Seamist”; the mellow and layered track “Lost Along the Way”; the low-key gem “Songbird Revisited”; the breezy organ-tinged “Unwritten Story”; the up-tempo number “Amongst the Pines”; and the countrified “El Capitan.” Joe Bourdet’s Meadow Rock is an impressive debut that is a definite nod to the past without being derivative. The album is filled with warm mellow melodies that allow the listener to get lost in the music. – Written by JFelton
