Prolific young musician Kevin Morby (the Woods bassist and Babies singer/guitarist) is out with his sophomore release, Still Life, less than one year after his solo debut, Harlem River. His latest finds him eschewing life in NYC for the sunny shores of LA, and result is a gem of an album. While touching on heavy themes of death, rejection, wandering, and loss, Morby has a great knack for simply crafted songwriting that belies their complex stories. Standouts include opener “The Jester, the Tramp & the Acrobat”, the peppy “Motors Runnin”, the piano infused “Amen”, and closer “Our Moon.” Morby is a talent to watch – give him a couple more years and he’ll be racking up more fans, awards, and critical acclaim. – Written by JFelton
