After the huge success of Only by the Night in 2008, the four Tennesseans that make up Kings of Leon reached international supergroup status with hits like “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody.” The four Followills (three brothers, one cousin) have wasted no time with their fifth album, Come Around Sundown. First single “Radioactive” is a strong starting off point for the release, as it’s a great example of what they excel at – big rock anthems sung with Caleb Followill’s distinct Southern-rock-hipster vocals. Tinged with a little country, Come Around Sundown is another strong showing from the band. The power ballads are earnest without being sappy, and there’s enough variety in the tracks to keep it interesting. They didn’t reinvent the wheel with this album, but who asked them to? – Written by DBosket
