After sixteen years together, Brooklyn collective The Ladybug Transistor is still making consistently great pop music, and their seventh album Clutching Stems is no exception; in fact, it is one of their best albums in their discography. The band shows off a new found energy, which may be due to the addition of their latest recruits Mark Dzula (The Magic Caravan, Jukebox Radio), Eric Farber (The Lisps), and Michael O’Neill (MEN). Regardless, the emotional depth, well-crafted arrangements, and involved production remain true. Standout tracks are “Oh Christina!”, “Caught Don’t Walk”, and “Breaking up on the Beat.” – Written by JFelton
