Langhorne Slim (aka Sean Scolnick) follows-up his excellent 2015 release The Spirit Moves with Lost at Last Vol. 1 – a loose and spontaneous set of folk-pop songs. The rhythms rollick; the harmonies sometimes don’t quite mesh; and there are hopping squeezeboxes, the occasional saloon piano, and a bunch of front-porch strumming – all signifiers of a different time and place. Album highlights include: the reflective opening track “Life Is Confusing”; the squeezebox and tuba driven “Ocean City”; the soulful “House of My Soul”; the back-porch jam “Bluebird”; the slightly twangy “Old Things”; the love song “Never Break”; and the hook heavy single “Zombie.” Lost at Last Vol. 1 is full of life and buzzing with positivity and I can’t wait for Vol. 2 – Written by JFelton
