Following his 2009 debut, Inland, 27 year-old multi-instrumentalist and Americana musician Leif Vollebekk decided to make an album inspired by the albums he most enjoys listening to. Recording live to tape to imbue a spontaneous vibe to the album, the result is the stellar North Americana – a charming record from start to finish with leisurely ballads, upbeat folk tunes and richly written vignettes on life. Highlights include “Cairo Blues” with impassioned lyrics and vocals alongside winsome guitar; the soulful bluesy piano driven track “At the End of the Line”, and the catchy “Takk Somuleidis.” North Americana is a solid and mature album from a young up-and-coming talent. – Written by JFelton
