LUKE ROBERTS | THE IRON GATES AT THROOP AND NEWPORT
Brooklyn musician Luke Roberts follows-up his debut Big Bells and Dime Songs with sophomore release, The Iron Gates at Throop and Newport. This time around Roberts returns to his childhood home of Nashville to record with Marky Nevers (producer, Lambchop’s Is A Woman) and backed by local fiddle and mandolin phenom Billy Contraraz (The Black Lillies), and Emily Sunblad (vocals). Roberts wrote the songs on his new guitar, spending nights in his Brooklyn apartment constructing notably more complex arrangements in contrast to his simple, straightforward lyrics. What results is an album of refined musicianship – a young artist finding his way. – Written by SMarx
