It’s definitely hard when someone breaks up with a spouse and it’s no wonder that Winslow-King’s romantic troubles have inspired many of the songs on one of his best albums to date, I’m Glad Trouble Don’t Last Always. Winslow-King was married to vocalist Esther Rose, who was his music partner, but the couple went their separate ways in October 2015. As he picked up the pieces he seems to be moving forward confidently despite the heartache and strife. Highlights include: the classic soul/blues tinged tracks “On My Way”; “Change Your Mind”; “Watch Me Go”; “Esther Please”; and “Louisiana Blues.” There are moments of sorrow, regret, forgiveness and redemption throughout the nine track collection, which is one of my favorite albums of the year. – Written by JFelton
