The Lumineers have had a long, rough road but they are finally on their way to great success. Formed in 2002 in NY following the death of Jeremiah Fraites’ brother Josh, who was Wesley Schultz’s best friend, the two were initially bonded in grief. After years striking out on the NY scene, the two moved to Denver where classical cellist Neyla Pekarek answered their Craigslist ad. Now after two self-released EP’s, The Lumineers are issuing their self-titled debut full-length on Dualtone. Produced and mixed by Ryan Hadlock (Foo Fighters, Ra Ra Riot) and Kevin Augunas (The Black Keys, Cold War Kids, The Magnetic Zeros), the trio’s brand of folk rock is driving and raw, making The Lumineers a catchy set of foot-stompers set to guitar, drums and piano. – Written by JFelton
