Brooklyn trio Man Benu, taps into the ‘90s for their release, The Kindling. Composed of Bentley Anderson, Taylor Davis, and Brady Sansone play expressive, guitar-driven rock. Named after a mythological bird, Man Benu aims to “rise in brilliance, with solar shine, and burst into flames, in an electric fog, of rock and roll.” With this credo in place, Man Benu’s six tracks on The Kindling each have their own atmosphere, with slow, drawling steel guitar and indie vocals that recall Thurston Moore and Stephen Malkmus. The songs take their time, allowing the rhythm and guitars to build up organically. And while these songs are on the serious side, they’re anything but dull. – Written by DBosket
