Ann Arbor troubadour Matt Jones is joined by bandmates The Reconstruction on his third self-released album Half Poison, Half Pure. The eight track follow-up to The Black Path is a well produced indie folk record with music that is genuine and at times, playful. Jones’ strong, clear voice remains center stage, even with the fuller sounding, electric contributions of The Reconstruction. Half Poison, Half Pure finds Jones mulling what it means to be in the middle, whether it is being stuck or drawn to one thing or its opposite, as the title suggests. Standout tracks include: the title track, “Hammer Falls” and “The Games We Used to Play (live version).” – Written by JFelton
