Michigan born, Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Melaena Cadiz self-released her debut album of indie folk, Rattle the Windows. Cadiz’s arrangements are simple, with basic guitar, banjo, lap steel and bass, leaving plenty of room for her lovely and at times, lively, vocals. With Rattle the Windows, Cadiz joins the ranks of other soulful songstresses making waves like Alela Diane, Laura Marling, and Marissa Nadler, adding to the accomplished fields of folk and classic country. Highlights among the eight tracks are “Blue Skies”, “Clay Pigeons”, and “Sleeping.” – Written by JFelton
