Seattle based indie rockers Moondoggies evolved their sound on their first two albums, 2008’s classic rock debut Don’t Be a Stranger and 2010’s Americana/roots tinged Tidelands. Their third full length on Hardly Art, Adiós I’m a Ghost, is less Laurel Canyon rock and more psychedelic, atmospheric rock along the lines of Pink Floyd or the Fleet Foxes, and it sounds amazing. The band has also expanded with longtime collaborator multi-instrumentalist Jon Pontrello joining the line-up, which adds even more depth and warmth. Their latest muses on life, death and reinvention while showcasing their characteristic three and four part harmonies. Highlights include: the spare acoustic “Pride”, the organ based “Don’t Ask Why”, and the intro/outro pair “I’m a Ghost” and “Adiós I’m a Ghost.” The Moondoggies are clearly coming into their own, creating a great discography that thrills fans and charms even wider audiences. – Written by JFelton
