26-year-old country singer/songwriter Morgan Wade hails from the heart of Southwest Virginia (Floyd, Virginia) – the same part of Appalachia that groups like the Carter Family and the Stanley Brothers came from – and Reckless is her debut full-length album which combines rock, pop, country, and Americana. Wade’s raspy soprano sounds like it was built for murder ballads and songs about cheating and drinking. Reckless was produced by Sadler Vaden (guitar, Jason’s Isbell’s 400 Unit) and Paul Ebersold (Green on Red, Slobberbone) who helped Wade bring her well-crafted songs to life in the studio and co-write a few new ones. Wade brings a lot of authenticity to the table on Reckless with songs about addiction, broken relationships, mental health, self-worth, and isolation. Notable tracks include: the heartbreaker “Mend”; the yearning lonesomeness of “Take Me Away”; the atmospheric folk tune “Northern Air”; the catchy breakup song “Last Cigarette”; and the hypnotic lullaby “Don’t Cry.” Morgan Wade’s Reckless showcases the talents of a young up-and-coming country musician who brings authenticity and a new voice and spirit to Outlaw Country. – Written by JFelton
