The beach is within sight and there’s always a sunset right around the corner for Papercuts and its released released fourth album, Fading Parade. Jason Quever, the brainchild of Papercuts, has put out a new set of dreamy, ‘60s-inspired songs that much like Brooklyn’s Beach Fossils, is saturated with a sense of nostalgia and youth. “The Messenger” and “Wait ‘Til I’m Dead” both have hints of another ‘beach’ band, Beach House, but Quever’s vocals lack the raspy soul of Victoria Legrand. The 10 tracks on Fading Parade all share in some great harmonies and guitar and blend well together, with some slightly more upbeat — recalling the Kinks and the Hollies — while other give off the feeling that Quever wrote and recorded these sun-soaked tracks on a warm, weekend afternoon. – Written by DBosket
