THE PLIMSOULS | BEACH TOWN CONFIDENTIAL: LIVE AT THE GOLDEN BEAR 1983
You may not have heard of the early 80’s power pop band The Plimsouls, but connoisseurs of American pop culture will recognize the four piece from their appearance as the nightclub band in the 1983 movie starring Nicolas Cage, Valley Girl. The band, comprised of a young Peter Case (vocals, guitar, harmonica), David Pahoe (bass), Eddie Munoz (guitar), and Lou Ramirez (drums) only recorded two albums before disbanding, and it was their 1983 Geffen release Everywhere at Once that forms the basic set of their live Huntington Beach, CA show. Beach Town Confidential: Live at the Golden Bear 1983 includes their hit “A Million Miles Away”, six previously unrecorded songs and covers such as Thee Midniters “Jump, Jive and Harmonize”, Bo Diddley’s “You Can’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” and the Everly Brothers’ “Price of Love.” Adored by critics back in the day and locally known for their hard rocking live shows, The Plimsouls are finally getting their due with 2010’s release of their 1981 show Live! Beg, Borrow, and Steal and now Beach Town Confidential. – Written by JFelton
