Cincinnati’s Pomegranates are back with a new release, One of Us – a set of new songs that have the intense rhythm and guitar reminiscent of U2 (early, Boy/Joshua Tree era, not the unintelligible “Get On Your Boots” stuff) combined with some very expressive, atmospheric layers of vocals and keyboards. Tracks alternate between upbeat, tightly written pop/rock and moodier compositions, which make for an interesting album that I believe is best listened straight through (no pressing “shuffle” on those iPods). Standout tracks include “Create Your Own Reality,” a romantic track with beautiful moments and swelling choruses, and the ballad, “Between Two Dreams,” which is quiet and affecting in its simplicity. – Written by DBosket
