Red Tail Ring is the musical collaboration of Michael Beauchamp and Laurel Premo, and The Heart’s Swift Foot is the band’s third album since forming in 2009. The duo write and perform both original material and covers, reinterpreting traditional American folk songs with fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, jaw-harp and gorgeous harmonies. This time around they include a pair of exceptionally reworked covers of Hazel Dicken’s “My Heart’s Own Love” and Doc Watson’s “Dickens and St. James Hospital.” Other highlights on the LP are two originals by the band: “Body like a Bell” which takes on a Sun Records’ vibe and the stunning “Ladies’ Choice Waltz” – a fiddle driven track the conjures images of expansive skylines. Red Tail Ring’s The Heart’s Swift Foot is a smart, polished and sincere Americana album. – Written by JFelton
