French pop trio Revolver quickly shot onto the scene with last year’s debut Music for a While, garnering them critics, fans, and a French Grammy nomination. They are back with a new EP, Parallel Lives, featuring more of the spare and energetic guitar, occasional cello instrumentation, and lush and charming vocal harmonies. The four tracks feature two originals (title track “Parallel Lives” and “Losing You”) and two covers from very divergent sources: Los Angeles indie/experimental rock project Mini Mansions’ New Wave-ish “Monk” and “Balulalow”, the fifth movement of a 1942 Christmastime choral piece by British composer Benjamin Britten. Revolver transforms the pieces, leaving in their wake a short but heady group of tunes you can’t help but fall in love with. – Written by JFelton
