Marietta, Georgia native and New York based singer-songwriter Ron Pope follows-up 2016’s Nighthawks with the aptly titled album, Work. With a new release nearly every year over the past decade and relentless touring, Pope continues to gain popularity and build a large catalog of songs resulting in millions of streams/downloads. Work is another excellent set of heartfelt, melodic genre-bending roots rock that draws largely from Pope’s experiences and the people in his life. Album highlights include: the horns-driven R&B and opening track “Bad For Your Health”; the soulful “Let’s Get Stoned”; the spare acoustic title track; the country tinged “Someday We’re All Gonna Die”; the tender ballad “Partner In Crime”; the boozy piano-driven “Dancing Days”; the beautiful heartbreaker “The Weather”; and the reaffirming closing track, “Stick Around.” Ron Pope’s earthy vibe and honest storytelling make for a very solid album and a great listen. – Written by JFelton
