Tenderheart – the follow-up to Sam Outlaw’s stellar 2015 debut, Angeleno – picks up right where the last album left off, expanding on Outlaw’s laidback So-Cal country vibe. Co-produced by Outlaw and Martin Pradler (Neil Young, Ry Cooder), Tenderheart is very tender album that floats along from song-to-song with a touch of twang and drifting rhythms. Standout tracks include: the title track; the lively two-stepper “All My Life”; the roots rocker “Trouble”; the reflective acoustic track “Bougainvillea, I Think”; and the two Latin tinged numbers, “Now She Tells Me,” and “Two Broken Hearts.” Sam Outlaw has released two solid albums to date and is one of my favorite up-and-coming talents in the Americana Roots music scene. – Written by JFelton
