Portland, Oregon native via Ogden, Utah sixteen-year-old Americana music wonderkind Sammy Brue released his debut album, I Am Nice, via New West Records. The 12-song set was produced by John Paul White (Civil Wars) and Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes) and recorded at their Sun Drop Sound studio in Alabama. Influenced by the Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Leadbelly, and Woody Guthrie, Brue similarly imbues his songs with clever lyrics and deft compositions that one would expect coming from a more seasoned musician. Album highlights include: the catchy first single “I’m Not Your Man”; the album opener “I Know”; the doo-wop tinged “Was I The Only One”; the Nirvana-esque “Control Freak”; the introspective “Salty Times”; and the heartbreaker “I Never Said.” Sammy Brue is a young up-and-coming talent and I Am Nice is a solid start. I look forward to following Brue as he grows and expands as a musician. – Written by JFelton
