North Carolina based alt-country rocker Sarah Shook and her band the Disarmers follow-up their acclaimed 2015 debut Sidelong with their sophomore effort, Years. Picking-up where Sidelong left off, Years is more polished but still features the bands ripping electric guitars, rambling rhythms, and twangy pedal-steel licks set to Shook’s fearless alto. Shook still draws heavily from personal experiences, singing about themes of hard luck, drinking, and heartache. Standout tracks include: the twang-punk kiss-off song “Good As Gold”; the drinking ode “The Bottle Never Lets Me Down”; the heartbreaker “Parting Words”; the unapologetic “New Ways To Fail”; and the lead single “Good As Gold.” Years is another kick-ass record from Sarah Shook and the Disarmers. – Written by JFelton
