The Las Cruces, New Mexico band Slow Motion Cowboys follow-up 2016’s In Exile/On the Mesa with their third album, Sun Burnt Feather. Singer/songwriter Pete Fields (Trainwreck Riders) has crafted a polished and heartfelt country music album that features reflections on life, heartache, loneliness and love. The deeper theme of transition which was influenced by Fields move from his longtime home San Francisco to Las Cruces, so the album finds him reflecting on the past – longing for people and places – while looking toward the future. Album highlights include: the emotive “Amnesia Blues”; the reflective “Log on The Fire”; the remorseful “Ghost Town Waltz”; the track about moving on “New Greener Pastures”; the tearjerker “Tiger Mountain”; and the reflective travel song “Sea of Cortez.” The Slow Motion Cowboys’ Sun Burnt Feather is a top-notch country record that should not to be missed. It is one of my favorite records of the year and has been in constant rotation since I received it. – Written by JFelton
