The 2010 reunion tour of seminal indie rock band Pavement made many music headlines and even more fans and crowds. Recorded over the course of two days in L.A., Mirror Traffic is the fifth album by Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus and his backing band, The Jicks. Produced by Beck, the 15 tracks on Matador Records release show the slacker indie rock star engaging in a looser style, forgoing the standard extended guitar solos for more (but not entirely) melodic pop songs. True to form, Malkmus does indulge in the occasional non-sequitur and sardonic one-liners. Mirror Traffic is an enjoyable, welcome addition to Malkmus’ discography. Standout tracks include “No One Is (As I Are Be)”, “Stick Figures in Love”, and “Forever 28.” – Written by JFelton
