Seattle-based husband-and-wife singer/songwriter duo Tekla Waterfield and Jeff Fielder spent the last year of quarantine writing Trouble in Time – a poignant set of expansive soundscapes that explore the unsettling growth of disenfranchisement and despair attributed to the social/cultural divide but also the human ability to be adaptable and resilient. Trouble in Time is a spare yet beautiful album with shimmering guitars, soaring vocals, layered instrumentation, and lovely harmonies. Standout tracks include: the opening track “Let There Be”; the lush single “Burden of Fear”; the haunting heartbreaker “Thief”; the sparkling Beatles-esque number “Wrong Time State of Mind”; the dreamy psychedelic folk of “Through the Falls”; the soulful title-track; the mellow, hopeful cut “Better Days”; and the anthemic closer “No Justice, No Peace.” Tekla Waterfield’s and Jeff Fielder’s Trouble in Time is a beautiful album that pushes the listener to open their minds and hearts during hard times and comforts with its intimacy and enduring hope. – Written by JFelton
