With sixty-five years of making music under their belt, The Legendary Ingramettes have lasted generations together through a linage of strong women. Maggie Ingram (aka Gospel Queen of Richmond, VA) – who passed away in 2015 – founded The Legendary Ingramettes as a way to keep her family together through hard times. The mantles was then taken up by her daughter Almeta Ingram-Miller as a way to continue Maggie’s legacy. The Legendary Ingramettes’ music was influenced by male black gospel quartets of the 1940’s and 50s, bringing roof-raising harmonies and powerful vocals to many soul-rousing rave-ups and tender moments. Standout tracks include: the opening track “The Family Prayer”; a cover of Bill Withers’ “Grandma’s Hands”; the extended track “Beulah Land/I Wanna Go There”; the fan and family favorite “When Jesus Comes”; the haunting cover of Ola Belle Reed’s “I’ve Endured”; and the rousing title track. The Legendary Ingramettes’ Take A Look in The Book perfectly captures the group’s soul-stirring musical legacy to new and dedicated audiences alike. – Written by JFelton
