San Francisco band Thee Oh Sees may be one of the most prolific around, with their recent Putrifiers II their fourth release in two years. While their infectious garage rock is still lively, their latest finds lead frontman John Dwyer, Brigid Dawson (keys, vocals), Petey Dammit (guitar), and Mike Shoun (drums) stretching toward a more 60’s psychedelic pop sound and exercising a modicum of restraint. While not the full-throttle power of previous records due in part to warmer production tones, Putrifiers II showcases Dwyer’s surprising knack for melody behind all the driving guitars, rhythms, and fuzz. Standouts tracks on this enjoyable garage rock set include “Hang a Picture”, the Krautrock laced “Lupine Dominus” and “Flood’s New Light.” – Written by SMarx
