The Dallas-Fort Worth based six-piece alt. country band the Vandoliers follow-up their critically acclaimed 2017 release The Native with their third album, Forever – another set of driving roots rock, country punk and vibrant Tejano. To quote Joshua Fleming (lead vocals, guitar) about the album, “I wrote a series of songs about my life and gave it to the best musicians I know to flesh out…. We wrote horn and fiddle parts on a trio tour through the mountains of New Mexico, Wyoming and Montana.” With the guidance from his mentors – one of whom is Rhett Miller (The Old 97’s) – and producer Adam Hill (The Bo-Keys, Deer Tick), Forever came to life at American Recording Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. Album standouts include: the driving country punk song “Tumbleweed”; the old-timey fiddle tinged “Miles and Miles”; the Tex-Mex horn-driven “Fallen Again”; the heartfelt ballad “Cigarettes in the Rain”; and the rabble-rousing “Troublemaker.” The Vandoliers’ Forever is filled with all the best alt-country has to offer. – Written by JFelton
