The thriving Minneapolis, MN indie scene has a new band on the block: Walker Fields – the side project of prolific singer/songwriter Brad Senne. Written and recorded in just five days last spring, Sky Falls In is ten tracks of slowcoustic indie folk inspired by Americana icons Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. With an ever-changing line up of musicians, Walker Fields still manages to achieve consistency throughout the album, even throwing in a few uptempo songs into the mix. Senne uses repetition as a lyrical and structural device to great effect on a number of tracks, most notably on closer “Stormy Weather”. Other standouts include the harmonica laden opener “Old Machine” and the finely strummed alt-country “Hold me Still” which harkens back to some of the best early Ryan Adams. – Written by SMarx
