Philadelphia indie rock band The War on Drugs continues to make their own mark on Americana music with Future Weather EP much like they did on their debut Wagonwheel Blues. With or without founder / guitarist Kurt Vile, The War On Drugs pushes the limits of process, with mixtapes, multiple layers and multiple song versions all densely yet careful piled atop one another. What results is eight tracks of alternately playful and serious indie pop / Americana soundscapes a la classic Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen. Check out Future Weather EP on October 26 on the Secretly Canadian label for a good, laid-back listen. – Written by JFelton
