Following the break-up of indie folk rock band Port O’Brien earlier this year, founder Van Pierszalowski (The Morning Benders) headed to Norway to rejuvenate. It was there he created his latest project, WATERS. Debut album Out in the Light was recorded in Dallas over 10 days with producer John Congleton (Bill Callahan, St. Vincent, R. Kelly), and the ten polished songs showcase a louder sound than Pierszalowski’s earlier efforts, the result of careful scripting with his Scandinavian collaborators. Fuzzy guitars dominate, melodies are strong, and anthems abound. Standout tracks include the title track, “Ones You Had Before”, and “Mickey Mantle.” – Written by JFelton
