Seattle singer-songwriter Zoe Muth and her backing band return with their sophomore effort Starlight Hotel (whose seedy namesake is located in Seattle’s beloved Ballard neighborhood). Muth’s acoustic country-folk sounds as if it came out of Nashville in the 70’s, and hits on the traditional themes of broken hearts and down on your luck times. Notable among the ten tracks which feature guitar, pedal steel, dobro and mandolin instrumentation are the opener “I’ve Been Gone”, “Harvest Moon Blues,” and the partial ode to John Prine “If I Can’t Trust You With A Quarter (How Can I Trust You With My Heart?)”. Starlight Hotel is another great album from this up and coming band – a definite must-have. – Written by JFelton
