Seattle native and Austin transplant Zoe Muth returns with her third album, World of Strangers – an understated and unpretentious country album. World of Strangers was recorded with a top notch group of country musicians including George Reiff (Dixie Chicks, Jakob Dylan), Greg Nies, Martie Maguire (Dixie Chicks), Bruce Robison (Kelly Willis), and Jenn Miori and Beth Chrisman (The Carper Family). As a whole, the album is more polished and richer than previous efforts with soulful vocals and narratives that seamlessly mix country, folk and rock. Highlights include: the honky tonk tearjerker “Mama Needs a Margarita”; the Ronnie Lane cover “April Fool”; the somber “Waltz of The Wayward Wind”; the delicate ballad “Somebody I Know,” and the album closer “What Did You Come Back Here For?”. If you are an Emmylou Harris, Iris DeMent or Kathleen Edwards fan and you haven’t heard of Zoe Muth, then give World of Strangers a listen. Zoe Muth keeps getting better with each album. – Written by JFelton
